Stepping Stones (2010)

Check out our latest song:  Stepping Stones.  As Arnie mentioned on his bio page, the song is dedicated to our friend Steve Sabatino.  That’s his guitar being played by Tracy and Eric on the recording.

(A little bit of inside trivia:  It’s not a coincidence that Steve’s initials and the song title’s initials are the same.  And the song was inspired by childhood memories of playing in the brook behind Eric’s house.)

Vocals:  Arnie Aranci
Guitars:  Tracy Garneau, Eric Knight
Keyboards:  Bill Holloman
Lyrics:  Eric Knight
Final Mix:  L&R Productions / Bill Holloman

Summer Hue (2007)

Here’s a pop-style tune, straight from the bubble gum machine.  About the lyrics, Eric has said:  “I remember exactly when the inspiration for this song occurred.  My wife (Elsie) and I were walking hand-in-hand along the boardwalk at Wildwood Beach, New Jersey.  It was one of those perfect summer evenings.  The waves were crashing.  Kids were laughing at the arcades.  And the essence for the song hit me, right then and there.  The line ‘…wild, wild summer…’ is my subtle wink to Wildwood.”  Arn then worked his magic with the lyrics and created this song.

Midnight On Machine Street (2007)

This is one of our first original songs that we took all the way through to production.  (We have lots of other “originals” that never made it out of the proverbial basement.)   The inspiration for this song was our high-school-era memories of cruising down Dixwell Avenue in Hamden on summer Friday nights and hanging out with friends at the old McDonald’s near the Hamden Plaza.  We hope it brings back memories for you, too!

Vocals:  Arnie Aranci
Guitars:  Tracy Garneau
Lyrics:  Eric Knight, Arnie Aranci
Final Mix:  Tracy Garneau

Delirious (2010)

Buckle up…   This rockin’ tune rips open with Tracy’s guitar riff that drives the whole song (and forces Arn to keep up at breakneck speed).  About the lyrics, Eric commented:  “A burst of unusual rhyming words popped into my head one day.  And I thought it would be fun to go all the way with it.   I love the crazed Punk feel that we ended up with.”  Arn adds the first guitar solo and Tracy takes it home with lead guitar in the outro.

Vocals:  Arnie Aranci
Guitars:  Tracy Garneau, Arnie Aranci
Bass:  Arnie Aranci
Lyrics:  Eric Knight, Arnie Aranci
Final Mix:  Tracy Garneau

Simplicity (2007)

This song was inspired by the materialistic state of the dating scene, along with all of the associated pretenses.  Hence lyrics like “no more plastics and perfume, thin facades across the room” and “see-through smiles, ’cause there’s nothin’ new.”  The person in the song is longing for “simplicity” — and gets a moment of relief when his eyes catch someone refreshingly out of place:  “Like a flower, comes a lonely one.  A little lest kept, and a little less done.”

Vocals:  Arnie Aranci
Guitars:  Tracy Garneau
Lyrics:  Eric Knight, Arnie Aranci
Final Mix:  Tracy Garneau

If I Had Eyes (2007)

This is our effort at a modern love song.  Stylistically, it’s an intentional homage to Weezer.  Arnie’s lyrical creativity, vocals, and guitar work are heavily featured.  The song is replete with inspired lyrics like:  “If I had eyes I could see what you are.  Treasures on Earth, golden wings, shooting stars.”  “I’ve got to find a way to keep this daylight dream alive.  And smash the chains of what we’re told its true, but it’s a thousand lies.”

Vocals:  Arnie Aranci
Guitars:  Arnie Aranci
Lyrics:  Arnie Aranci, Eric Knight
Final Mix:  Arnie Aranci, Tracy Garneau

Left Is Alright (2007)

A funky, bluesy, silly song.  (Don’t blame us if it gets stuck in your head!)   Eric says he has no idea where the inspiration for this offbeat song came from.  He says his favorite lyric is:  “My shadow it ducked out and left me, yeah, but left is alright.”   He said he literally laughed out loud when he came up with that line.  Tracy’s silky smooth bluesy riffs provide a classic sound that could have been recorded decades ago.  Tip of the cap to Arnie for vocally pulling off this unusual piece; you can tell he’s enjoying singing  it.  In fact, Arnie rattled off a bunch of fun adlibs during the recording session that made it to the final mix.

Vocals:  Arnie Aranci
Guitars:  Tracy Garneau
Lyrics:  Eric Knight, Arnie Aranci
Final Mix:  Tracy Garneau
